Our computing cluster Wakefield celebrates its 10th anniversary

November 28, 2020

On November 28th, 2020, our computing cluster Wakefield celebrated its 10th anniversary. Since then, the machine is running 24/7. Some parts already got broken and needed to be repaired. During the past 10 years, Wakefield has hosted several breath-taking electromagnetic field simulations. By a higher-order finite-element complex-valued eigenvalue solver, an atlas containing all properties of the first 194 eigenmodes of the TESLA 1.3 GHz has been calculated (opens in new tab). With a discontinuous Galerkin time-domain solver, wake fields in long and complicated accelerator structures have been simulated. On Wakefield, the first full-wave signal integrity analysis of a complete computer chip has been carried out.
