Coupled Problems

The research area of the group encompasses the coupling of electromagnetic fields with heat, fluid flow and dynamics of charged particles in accelerators. The aim of the research is the development of new simulation methods for non-electromagnetic phenomena, as well as the efficient embedding of existing electromagnetics software into a multiphysics simulation environment.

Individual research projects:

  • Development of simulation methods for the forced convective cooling of electromagnetic devices
  • Applications of electromagnetic-thermal coupling
  • Applications related to heat generation in the human body
  • Object-oriented PIC-Simulations for the dynamics of charged particles in accelerators
  • Development of emission models by using the PBA-techniques
  • Analysis and optimization of planar pick-up and kicker electrodes (Cooperation with GSI and with the working group “Discretization methods and HF”)
